America, Return to God!

In the midst of a city with escalating immorality and increasing public wickedness, nearly two thousand Christians gathered in San Francisco for a time of open repentance and prayer. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to attend this prayer rally, which was appropriately named America Return to God.

The powerful message on true repentance, the need for one accord, and the power of crying out was perfect preparation for the time of prayer that followed. Surrounded by a multitude of believers sincerely and fervently lifting up their families, their churches, and their nation, I was reminded of the promise in II Chronicles 7:14:

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (II Chronicles 7:14).

Judgment must begin at the house of God. (See I Peter 4:17.) Do Christians really believe that marriage is one man and one woman for life? We don’t seem to act like it. Our generation is quickly losing its moral compass. This is why it was so encouraging for me to join with so many other believers in repentance and prayer as they stood for truth in a very dark world.

I was glad to read your report Robert. I was reading yesterday that (according to a Barna Report some time ago) 66% of Americans do not actually believe that there is absolute right and absolute wrong. If we lose our understanding of absolute right and wrong we may as well not believe in right or wrong at all–even in math and the sciences! In view of natural disasters and hesitancy amongst the majority to realize the threat of radical Islam, our heart cry could just as well be “America, Wake up!” I see hope for our country arriving by means of two avenues: those who have the discipline of rising early, waking up with joy and purpose on a daily basis; and a succeeding generation that learns from our mistakes, sacrificing whatever comfort is necessary to uphold justice nationally and internationally. God bless us every one as we humble ourselves, pray, seek His face and turn from our wicked ways.

Praise God that the Christians in California are standing up for what is right by getting on their knees before God!

Really, if Christians say it is ok for a couple to break their marriage vows in divorce, than what reason is there to keep other commitments and standards given by God? The destruction of the family results in the destruction of a nation.

Praise the Lord for all those who have chosen to be a part of the solution. Thank you for the good report. Let’s trust that it not take a disaster that is magnitudes of order greater than 9/11 to bring us to true repentance. “But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded. So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away. And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.” Psa 64:7-9
