How To Fix A Miserable Mustard Mistake

Danger Approaching!Last week we took a trip up to PA to visit our cousins. One night while we were there we had a cookout. I was going through the line and had just put on some mustard on my hot dog when all of a sudden my plate slipped off the counter and all the mustard on my hot dog went flying onto my new white shirt šŸ™ It was easy to clean up my hot dog but almost impossible to get it off my shirt.

After the accidentWhen we finally got home I tried spraying Pre-Spot on the mustard stain but it didn’t do very much good. So then I tried Sol-u-mel and it worked a little better. By this time I was getting rather discouraged. It wasn’t coming out! Then Mom remembered that once she got ink out of a blanket with toothpaste! So I decided to try it. I scrubbed the toothpaste on the stain and it worked better then anything we had tried yet. But it didn’t get it all the way out. We then checked on the internet and it suggested using Fantastik so we tried that and it worked really good. After this we threw it in the washing machine when it got out it was exactly how it was when it went in. So I thought that I’ll just have to make it a work shirt. But Mom had one more idea. She hung it out in the sun, and by the end of the day you could hardly tell I ever spilled mustard on it!

After the long cleaning processI’m so thankful for mom encouraging me to keep trying and not to give up. Always have determination even when you miserable mistakes.

Before we left the Wilkes’ last week, Mr. Wilkes reminded me to bear in mind that God is sovereign and can work even despite our mistakes. Being in Taiwan I have seen some of the dangers that young children in the world are regularly exposed to and it seems that the damage is irrepairable. Thank you for a great reminder that the Lord still loves to wash away sins. God bless us with determination!

What would we do without our Mothers encouragement to press on and be determined to have success?? Way to go Mrs. Staddon in coming up with all those wonderful ideas!
