Celebrating Michael’s Birthday!

The cake was complete with candle, cacti and coyotes!

The theme for Michael’s birthday was cowboys! When Michael came in early in the morning and saw the decorations he said he had just been thinking about how the Israelites told the Egyptians that they considered themselves cowboys! Gen. 46:34 “Thy servants’ trade had been about cattle from our youth even until now.” It was extra fun to have Grandpa and Grandma join the party in their cowboy hats. We thank the Lord for Michael and are encouraged by his example of following the Lord and loving His ways. His birthday card read: “Wherever you may range, may the Lord bless you to be what He would be and to do what He would do. Happy Trails.”

The cowgirls......and the cowboys!The snowman even wore a hat!The card David made for Michael was one of a kind!Shorty stopped by to say "Howdy, partner!"These cactus cucumbers were really fun to make with toothpicks!Ready to dig into the cake after a good days work on the Staddon homestead.

A Blessed Weekend!

While our parents began planning for the Family Encouragement Weekends, the rest of the Wilkes came to our house to help us with some projects and visit. This was a very encouraging time for us and we treasure the memories!

Celebrating Uncle Tim’s Birthday!

The party people!The theme for Uncle Tim’s birthday was Florida! Grandpa and Grandma’s dining room was transformed with the beach backdrop, seashore table decorations, and shells from Sanibel. Grandpa’s apple black walnut cake and Aunt Melba’s fresh key lime pie were real treats! We have so much to thank the Lord for including terrific extended family and fun times together!

Living by Giving

Is thy cruse of comfort failing?
     Rise and share it with a friend,
And through all the years of famine
     It shall serve thee to the end.
Love divine will fill thy storehouse,
     Or thy handful still renew;
Scanty fare for one will often
     Make a royal feast for two.

For the heart grows rich in giving;
     All its wealth is living grain;
Seeds—which mildew in the garner—
     Scattered, fill with gold the plain.
Is thy burden hard and heavy?
     Do thy steps drag wearily?
Help to lift thy brother’s burden—
     God will bear both it and thee.

Numb and weary, on the mountains,
     Wouldst thou sleep amidst the snow?
Chafe that frozen form beside thee,
     And together both shall glow.
Art thou stricken in life’s battle?
     Many wounded ‘round thee moan;
Lavish on their wounds thy balsam,
     And that balm shall heal thine own.

The Creation Museum

Donald, Michael, Esther, James, Daniel, Jonathan, Robert & Kendalyn, and I had a lot of fun at the creation museum, learning about scientific proof that God created the world in six days, and that there was a worldwide flood. It was the first time most of us had been there. Their presentation of creation and the gospel message was clear and convincing. The climax for me was being at the planetarium. The projection on the domed ceiling was so 3-D, that it made some of us dizzy. Sad smile

What an amazing Creator God is!
