Book Report: The Robe

The Robe by Lloyd C. DouglasSet in the time of history surrounding Jesus’ life and ministry, The Robe is a story of Marcellus, the Tribune who Pilate commanded to carry out the crucifixion. This incredibly detailed novel is definitely ranked high among my favorite books.

Ever since the dreadful day of Jesus’ death, Marcellus was deeply disturbed with a conviction mysteriously linked with the robe. Yet, through his experiences with Justus, the stories he hears of Jesus, and finally an eye-witness account, he is slowly converted to Christianity. Yet it is not easy for a Roman Tribune to profess belief in Jesus without consequence. Eventually it comes to a conscious decision before all of Rome, the Emperor, and God!

Book Report: The Light and The Glory

The Light and the GloryHistory always seemed to have a boring connotation associated with it for me. U.S. history was especially confusing – all the dates seemed to be mixed up and isolated from each other. However, The Light and the Glory brought all the events of America’s early history together in an exciting new way from God’s perspective.

Rather than tediously recounting an overhwelming number of facts and dates, The Light and the Glory steps you through the thrilling years of America’s beginnings as God’s intricate plan for the young nation began to unfold. It clearly reveals how greatly she was blessed with divine intervention when her people committed to obeying God’s commands, and how lovingly He reproved her as they began to stray onto their own paths.

I thoroughly enjoyed this first book in the series, and am looking forward with great anticipation to reading the other two: “From Sea to Shining Sea” and “Sounding Forth the Trumpet”.
