The Constitution, Part X

Continuing with the theme of criminal justice, Amendment 8, like the laws of the Old Testament, reminds us that justice has, at its heart, the reclamation of a soul. Note the underlying role of conscience.

AMENDMENT 8

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.
