A Ministry of Art

The team of 39+ artists! Last weekend, Robert, Daniel and I had the incredible opportunity to learn a very unique skill under the tutorship of one of the worlds leading chalk artist, Matt Bowman. Up until about 10 years ago, chalk drawing was a dying art, but through the diligent efforts of Eternity Arts, this very effective means of communication is again reaching the world for Christ.

Just getting startedExperiementing with treesEnjoying it Robert?

I think so . . .Working on the final, full-sized project

Daniel drawing like a pro Though we only had one day of training, we made the most of it and I was quite surprised at how easy it was to learn the simple procedures and clear-cut techniques of drawing with chalk. Due to the straightforward instruction and hands-on experience, I would say that given an easel, some chalk and a message from the Lord, any of the three of us (or better yet, the three of us working together!) would now be able to do a chalk presentation, albeit a simple one, at a moments notice.

The most enjoyable part may very well have been looking at everyone elses work. :)

Wow – that is so amazing and great! I would love to learn chalk art. You guys do so well! It looks easy, but I’m sure it takes plenty of practice.

That was one of the best highlights of the Northwoods Staff Retreat. I’m shocked how simple Chalk Art really is! Anyone really can do it – especially with expert training from someone like Matt Bowman. He was an inspiration to every one of us!

That sounds like a lot of fun! We just saw a young man (who also learned under Matt Bowman several years ago) do an amazing chalk presentation last weekend. That can definitely be a powerful means of communication! We’ll look forward to seeing another one (or all!:)) of the Staddon brothers do another one sometime!!

My husband is a pastor and we have a chalk talk ministry as well! I have never been fortunate to learn technique, the Lord just gives my husband a aermon and we pray about what to draw. I am blessed to be able to use this gift God has given me. It is an awesome evangelism tool and we pray the Lord will use you all mightily!

That’s really neat! It’s the message that counts most anyway. 🙂
