Christmas with IBLP – Day 2

Indianapolis at Christmas timeThe Christmas Conference continues! With snow still on the ground and the ITC so nicely decorated, it is the perfect time and place to get to know individuals and families who have labored in the IBLP ministry.

The morning opened with two rejuvenating messages by Ken Pierpont and Bill Federer focusing on the role of the Holy Spirit in a Christian’s life. The richness of one accord continued over brunch as I met the Felber family. Having worked with their son Britton for the past week or so, it was great to get to know his family.

The making of a Christmas party at South CampusA major highlight of the day was a quick trip to South campus for some recreation and continued fellowship. On the way, I had the chance to join in conversation with Senator Daniel Webster from Florida who was also attending the Conference. As a successful politician and supporter of Mike Huckabee, he was able to shed some light on some questions I had about the 2008 presidential elections.

I also had the pleasure of meeting Tim and Angie Levendusky, missionaries Donald worked with in Mongolia three years ago. I had never met them in person before and it was a real blessing to talk with them.

Live harp music during the banquet.Robert ready to serve! An elegant banquet was served soon after returning from South Campus, complete with live, atmosphere-enhancing harp music. Again, I was in for a blessing as I sat down with a family I had not yet met. As it turned out, they were an ATI family from Australia. Full of stories and testimonies, they were so much fun to talk to, especially when it came to deciphering their deep, British accent.

The climax of the day was the evening session. Tom Harmon gave a fiery message after which the entire group joined together in triumphant singing of Christmas carols. Robert and Clayton Reedstrom then played a masterful piano duet, a remarkable Christmas collage of almost 10 minutes in length.

Presentation of a masterpiece of music

It has truly been worth while to meet new people and renew old friendships. So far, God has very much blessed the significance of this Conference.

James, the picture of Robert playing that masterful piano piece is a masterpiece itself! Great job! By the way, where did Clayton go? (The way they play, there never was room for the two of them on the same bench!) 🙂 As for Indianapolis in the snow, well, after experiencing the breathtaking snowscapes of our wild wonderful West Virginia mountain woodlands blanketed in 5 inches of fresh snow last week, that photo had me laugh-a-hootin’! Still, the clouds were kind of nice, and it’s the people that matter most. I’m happy to hear of your fantastic time with your true family in Christ!!
